Role Summary

The Sr. Quality Control Specialist, Ground Support Equipment functions as a subject matter expert within the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Team at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment in developing and overseeing quality control programs as well as performing complex quality control audits of vendors performing maintenance activities on Ground Support Equipment owned by Alaska Airlines (AS).

Key Duties

  • Acts as a subject matter expert, partners with the Regional Manager, Ground Support Equipment to develop and oversee quality control programs.
  • Monitors work-in-progress to ensure all vendor workmanship is of acceptable quality and that all work is accomplished in accordance with the work scope, on time and in compliance with applicable specifications.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercises considerable judgement to conduct complex reviews, investigations, and a variety of quality control audits to facilitate improvement in processes that support GSE operations.
  • Collaborates with auditees in an effective manner working with all levels of GSE leadership and vendor maintenance providers to collect compliance data to help support their process improvements.
  • Conducts follow-up checks, monitors development and verifies implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Reviews root cause analysis to identify process level breakdowns.
  • Understands business processes and key controls to mitigate operational and safety risks.
  • Leads and assists with ad hoc departmental/administrative and project-based initiatives.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of practical Ground Support Equipment (GSE) experience, including either 1 year supervising GSE technicians or 1 year performing quality control audits.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Thorough understanding of airline safety and operating standards, as well as a thorough understanding of GSE operations.
  • Strong capability in problem solving, planning, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong ability to balance and effectively manage multiple project/demands.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification.
  • Technical trade school in repair and maintenance.
  • Electric powered vehicle experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

Salary Range

$86,700 -- $130,050 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements
