Role Summary

The Fleet Manager is responsible for developing solutions for the overall health of a fleet, and cross-functional coordination required to improve fleet performance at Alaska Airlines (AS) and Hawaiian Airlines (HA). As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations integrating engineering, operational and commercial considerations to ensure the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations of the AS and HA fleet. 

Key Duties

Fleet Manager (Professional 2) 

  • Take initiative to develop solutions for a holistic monthly fleet health report using M&E data to highlight key operational and financial metrics, major reliability and cost drivers, risks, and required engineering actions. 
  • Collaborates across engineering disciplines, operational groups, OEMs, and suppliers to diagnose fleet issues, establish health monitoring practices, and ensure accurate configuration management. 
  • Represents Maintenance & Engineering in aircraft configuration, induction, and delivery activities to ensure proper systems definition, technical integration, and acceptance standards. 
  • With limited direction from manager, oversees engineering projects for the assigned fleet, ensuring alignment with schedule, cost, technical requirements, 7and commercial considerations in partnership with vendors and warranty teams. 
  • Engages in industry and OEM forums, participates in reliability meetings, and supports broader fleet reliability initiatives.  

Senior Fleet Manager (Professional 3) 

  • Acts as subject matter expert to produce a comprehensive monthly fleet health report covering key performance metrics, major reliability and cost drivers, risks, and engineering project status. 
  • Drive alignment across engineering disciplines and operational groups (Reliability, Maintenance Programs, Configuration Control, Line Maintenance, Supply Chain, OEMs) to identify and resolve fleet issues. 
  • Represent Maintenance & Engineering in aircraft configuration, induction, and delivery activities to ensure proper systems definition, integration, and acceptance. 
  • With minimal direction from leadership, establish and maintain fleet health monitoring, baseline configuration management, and data driven recommendations to improve fleet performance. 
  • Oversee engineering project portfolios for the assigned fleet, ensuring alignment with schedule, cost, and technical objectives. 
  • Engage with vendors, warranty teams, OEMs, and industry forums to understand technical options, commercial impacts, and emerging fleet issues. 
  • Mentor analysts and participate in key reliability meetings (RWG, RCB). 
     

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Intermediate Level (Professional 2) 

 

Required 

  • 2 years of experience in the airline industry or aviation related experience with transport category aircraft.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.  
  • Project, program, or portfolio management experience.  
  • Familiar with aircraft reliability drivers and maintenance processes.  
  • Ability to build and sustain cross-divisional business relationships.  
  • Ability to lead and sustain successful teams by strategizing, coordinating, and planning logistics.  
  • Ability to effectively and persuasively present detailed information to all levels of management in the organization, including the investment council and board of directors.   

Senior Level (Professional 3) 

 

Required 

  • 4 years of airline industry or aviation related experience with transport category aircraft, and experience in a Fleet Management or Fleet Introduction role; or related area. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field, or related field; or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree 
  • Project, program, or portfolio management experience. 
  • Familiar with aircraft reliability drivers and maintenance processes. 
  • Ability to build and sustain cross-divisional business relationships. 
  • Ability to lead and sustain successful teams by strategizing, coordinating, and planning logistics. 
  • Ability to effectively and persuasively present detailed information to all levels of management in the organization, including the investment council and board of directors.  

Required at all levels 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum age of 18. 
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.  

Preferred at all levels 

  • Experience with the following fleet type families: B717, B737, B787, A320, or A330.

Salary Range

$93,050-$176,550 / year

Pay Details

Seattle, WA

  • P2 Fleet Manager - $93,050.00 - $139,600.00
  • P3 Senior Fleet Manager - $117,700.00 - $176,550.00

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
