Role Summary

The Director, Creative Studio sets the long-term strategy and oversees the performance of the Creative Studio for the Alaska, Hawaiian, and Atmos brands. As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction for a team of designers, copywriters, videographers, project managers and storytellers to provide creative, compelling, and measurable solutions to concrete and abstract marketing initiatives, nurture brand best practices to the broader Studio team, and influence leadership to adopt new thinking and innovation that grows these world-class brands through compelling creative strategies.

Key Duties

  • Establish strategic goals for team of creative professionals spanning design, video/social, copy and overall brand strategy.
  • Set long-term strategy for the creative product of both Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Atmos brands
  • Influence leadership within the marketing team and throughout the broader organization around marketing and design best practices, trending visual communication, and the future of brand expression.
  • Lead the Studio team in a way that drives innovation from concepting to final product while ensuring design outcomes are met and the creative bar is consistently raised.
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and disciplines.
  • Shape culture of the team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.
  • Develop and manage budget for all functions across the combined Studio.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 8 years of experience in marketing design and in-house studio production.
  • 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 of those years directly leading people.
  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on visual communications, graphic design, advertising, or related area, or two years of relevant experience in lieu of this degree.
  • A strong portfolio of work demonstrating the ability to change customer perceptions and behavior with compelling creative.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. A proven track record of presenting to and influencing management.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.
  • Think and act both strategically and tactically. The successful candidate will be a tenacious self-starter with a passion for branding, who can serve as a strong advocate for our customers.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Able to conceptualize and execute projects, with strong bias for action.
  • An awesome, collaborative attitude and a drive to do breakthrough work.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Salary Range

$167,050 - $258,950 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$217,165 - $336,635

Salary Details

The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, your relevant experience/level, experience level, and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
