Role Summary

As an individual contributor, the Principal Commercial Products Manager (CPM) manages the commercial performance of one or more of our revenue products (First Class, Main Cabin, ancillaries, etc.). This role leads integrated product teams and advances Alaska and Hawaiian’s commercial products by partnering with internal and external parties. The CPM builds the cross-product strategy for their product portfolio and leads through influence across the enterprise to deliver business results for their assigned products.

Key Duties

  • Define and execute long-term strategies across product portfolio. Optimize cross-product strategy by positioning products according to identified customer needs.
  • Execute long-term product strategies. Create/maintain product roadmaps to maximize revenue growth opportunities using our competitive advantages, and lead market innovation to improve competitive positioning.
  • Actively seek out and develop cross-divisional relationships to ensure the customer journey is supported across all channels.
  • Utilize program management best practices to deliver against program baselines (financial, operational, strategic, etc.) and optimize product performance.
  • Build and lead cross-functional integrated product team to execute strategic plan alongside enterprise stakeholders based on business priorities.
  • Establish Product business rules, goals, and competitive set. Build recommendations on pricing and product attributes to align with enterprise-wide roadmaps.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on assigned Products through a deep understanding of customer needs, product policies, and financial statements.
  • Partner with Strategy and Business Development leaders to define future product requirements.
  • Work closely with our Enterprise Project Management Office and business implementation leaders who project manage the implementation of new products or product changes.
  • Develop and implement product-specific go-to-market plans, working across departments to execute on a single, integrated plan.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (leading and lagging) to ensure performance to business goals and sustained alignment between product design and performance.
  • Is ultimately responsible for assigned revenue product Profit & Loss (P&L), forecast, budget success, and management.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and communicate ongoing product plans to continually improve the customer/end-user experience leveraging data, user feedback, and product performance.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 7 years of experience in product or program management, project management, product ownership, or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related business field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated understanding program management best practices or product management.
  • Demonstrated decision making, collaboration, consensus building, negotiation, and teamworking skills, including the ability to lead with influence.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change.
  • Ability to present both technical and non-technical content to internal and external partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences, including colleagues, executives, partners, and customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Prior airline, aviation or travel & hospitality industry experience.
  • Skilled in presenting and storytelling data-driven, strategic insights.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, data modeling, or working with structured data, with a strong preference for proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced degree in Business or related field.
  • Experience managing third party relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with increased complexity.

Salary Range

$138,500 - $207,750 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
