Role Summary

The Europe Regional Director will be the in-market leader delivering the commercial performance and growth of Alaska Air Group’s international markets in Europe. This high-visibility, cross-functional role is responsible for leading a diverse set of market development, sales, marketing, and other growth activities. Reporting to the Managing Director, Partnerships & International, this position will help shape how we grow revenue and our international presence in Europe. This role will influence and execute strategies across a wide range of products and customers and be responsible for identifying and driving strategic initiatives focused around capturing more than AAG’s fair share in international markets and achieving point-of-sale revenue targets.

Key Duties

  • Define and execute sales distribution strategy for Europe, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and market needs.
  • In a highly matrixed environment with various commercial leadership teams, develop and implement initiatives related to driving Air Group’s international performance.
  • Lead commercial performance and sales throughout Europe.
  • Champion the Europe market within the organization, overseeing relationships with GSAs and other sales partners.
  • Report on the performance of international initiatives, providing insights and recommendations to senior management for decision-making and driving efficiency.
  • Represent the company in community, government, and airport relations across Europe.
  • Provide market knowledge expertise and coordinate with pricing and revenue management teams.
  • Provide guidance to team on establishing AAG competitive advantage and offering strategies that satisfy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Drives results faster than competition in new markets/solution areas.
  • Manage P&L and operating budgets, aligning with strategic shifts and account directions.
  • Understand drivers of growth around international market and partners across lines of business and coaches and influences teams to partner with internal teams to accelerate the customer/partner innovative digital transformation.
  • Build and manage strong business relationships with local partners including tourism boards, PR firms, and airline partners.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
  • Act as the champion for Air Group’s European markets with a focus on working cross-functionally with RM, network, partnerships, marketing, distribution and other teams to ensure the success of existing and new markets.
  • Provide input and feedback on pricing strategies, schedule design, selling via indirect and direct channels and other considerations related to the success of our international markets.
  • Provide guidance to team on establishing AAG competitive advantage and offering strategies that satisfy Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Drives results faster than competition in new markets/solution areas.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 10 years experience in functions related to business development, corporate strategy, commercial sales, or related area.
  • Bachelors degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change and initiate actions that have strategic impact and drive a high-performance culture.
  • Excellent communicator across all levels within an organization providing clarity to complex concepts and solutions.
  • Demonstrated significant growth of sales in a region or business unit by driving cross-functional efforts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrates a collaborative leadership style that motivates staff and encourages peak performance.
  • A self-motivated, personable, organized, and cooperative co-worker; supportive of team efforts and goals.
  • Able to adapt to an ever-changing, dynamic market environment and willing to work in a virtual environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to think strategically and “outside the box”.
  • Able and willing to travel at least 20% of the time to meet with customers and Commercial teams.
  • Must possess a valid passport or national ID that meets Schengen Area and UK travel requirements. If air travel is required, must be able to comply with local entry and exit documentation standards, including visa eligibility and biometric registration where applicable.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United Kingdom and/or specified European countries. Sponsorship for a work visa may be available for qualified candidates, subject to local immigration regulations.

Preferred

  • Airline Industry and/or international experience.
