Role Summary

The Principal Data Privacy Program Manager is a key business privacy subject matter expert. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy for data privacy to manage the information life cycle effectively and embed the culture of privacy into the business divisions at AAG. This role will lead the business aspect of Data Privacy, by creating strategic annual roadmaps for business unit engagement, collaborating with AAG Legal to set parameters and completion of regulatory compliance requirements (DPIA, ROPA, consultations, business process reviews, creation of custom division-specific training, and metrics reporting). Additionally, this role will create and implement standards and policies for Data Privacy for guiding the business divisions on the collection, usage, sharing and retention of personal data, while working in an agile environment.

Key Duties

  • Lead and manage the AAG (Alaska, Hawaiian, and Horizon) business privacy function, partnering with the technical privacy team to develop a centralized roadmap to manage risk, identify maturity opportunities and meet compliance requirements and obligations while living AAG’s values of doing the right thing, being remarkable and focusing on the safety of personal data
  • Author, publish and enforce policies, standards, controls and trainings to help business divisions across the enterprise operationalize privacy requirements while measuring effectiveness and ROI
  • Collaborate across teams in Enterprise Architecture, Cyber Security, Supply Chain and Legal to create a data inventory and Data Protection Impact Assessments for high risk data processing activities within all divisions that process personal data of guests and employees.
  • Partner closely with Technical Privacy, Cyber Security and Data Governance to align program priorities and improve reporting capabilities while also leading privacy focused training and awareness initiatives. Oversee reporting operations for senior leadership, audit committee, ensuring continuous improvement.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 7 years of experience in working as a data privacy lead in a global, complex, multi-platform distributed environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree. 
  • Experience creating compliance related documentation, controls, and policies, proficiency with industry frameworks such as NIST.
  • Knowledge of compliance program management principles, risk assessment methodologies and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders and varied teams.
  • Experience and desire to “roll up the sleeves” and handle execution as well as strategy in the Data Privacy space.
  • Strong project leadership and management skills to lead organizational change to effectively meet strategic and tactical goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to present to a target audience
  • Must be detail orientated/articulate with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Proven management/supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • CIPP and / or CIPM

Salary Range

$138,500 - $207,750 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
