Role Summary

The Vendor Performance Management (VPM) Specialist,, is responsible for managing key supplier relationships and supporting vendor performance efforts at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role operates with moderate independence to analyze spend and operational performance, support business reviews, ensure contract compliance, and help drive resolution of performance issues with vendors and lessors to meet corporate objectives.

Key Duties

  • Manage assigned PBH, Tier 1, and select Tier 2 vendor relationships with moderate independence, ensuring contract adherence, maintaining strong communication, and addressing performance concerns.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgement to lead vendor relationships and make decisions in vendor performance management.
  • Facilitate working-level meetings and support leadership-level engagements between AS and vendors, providing follow-up and tracking of action items to completion.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders including Supply Chain Management, Maintenance & Engineering, Legal, FP&A, and others to review vendor agreements and support resolution of commercial and operational issues.
  • Analyze vendor performance data to identify trends and assist in preparing performance summaries and leadership briefings.
  • Investigate vendor issues and contribute to the negotiation of resolutions and remedies that support AS operational goals.
  • Support regular performance reviews and business meetings, including the preparation of reporting packets and tracking of performance metrics and service level commitments.
  • Validate and process monthly utilization reports, invoices, and claims related to PBH contracts and maintenance reserves.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and processes that enhance team and vendor efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Help track and manage vendor credits, escalation calculations, and key performance indicators.
  • Work across Maintenance & Engineering and SCM to ensure vendor performance aligns with operational needs and strategic goals.
  • Support risk mitigation efforts related to vendor performance, continuity, and compliance.
  • Assignments may include specific vendors, fleet types, or ATA chapters.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 2 years of experience in vendor management; or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional 1-2 years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) skills.
  • Detailed oriented and organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Preferred experience in strategic sourcing, procurement and/or material management at an airline.
  • Preferred experience in category management.

Salary Range

$69,450 --$114,600 / year

Pay Details

Geo 1 (Honolulu): $69,450 - $104,200

 

Geo 2 (Seattle): $76,400 - $114,600

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
