Role Summary

The Senior Specialist Vendor Performance Management (VPM) is a subject matter expert in leading strategic supplier relationships and performance management at Alaska Airlines (AS). As an individual contributor, this role exercises considerable judgment to independently perform spend and operational performance analysis, facilitate performance reviews, develop storytelling and deliver briefings to leadership, build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and lessors to meet corporate objectives and improve performance.

Key Duties

  • Serve as the primary strategic & performance contact with PBH, Tier 1 and critical Tier 2 vendors, ensure contract adherence, facilitate working and leadership-level meetings between the Company and vendors, track commercial and operational performance, manage internal and external stakeholder inquiries and resolve action items effectively and promptly for significant operational initiatives.
  • With minimal direction from leadership, exercise considerable judgement to lead vendor relationships and make decisions in vendor performance management.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain Management, Maintenance & Engineering, Legal, FP&A, etc., to review vendor contracts, identify areas of concern, analyze commercial and operational terms of contract, and independently develop business and contractual strategies to meet internal goals and objectives.
  • Track vendor concerns raised by the business, negotiate remedies and outcomes that act in the best interest of the Company.
  • Track compliance to and measurement of contractual guarantees and service level commitments, and secure remedies from vendor when guarantees or service level commitments are not met.
  • Proactively and independently identify, analyze and develop storytelling on vendor risks or strategic opportunities and brief leadership with a goal to raise safety, cost, quality, and labor relations standards with vendors.
  • Develops, facilitates, and monitors progress on Company and organizes regular vendor business reviews to ensure contract compliance and operational performance.
  • Produce and send to vendors and lessors monthly utilization reports, approve, and process invoices (and claims) related to PBH contracts and maintenance reserves.
  • Validate annual escalation calculations and generate or revise purchase orders.
  • Represent Maintenance & Engineering’s voice in vendor surveys, regular meetings, and business reviews.
  • Assists Supply Chain Management in developing the supply base to mitigate operational, financial and geopolitical risk to strategically align with the Maintenance & Engineering operation and objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and processes which make our team and vendors more efficient (and effective); maintain effective databases to track vendor performance and capture remedies, analyze key performance metrics to root cause performance issues and drive change.
  • Specific fleet type, vendors, and/or ATA chapters as assigned.
  • Work across the Maintenance & Engineering Department to ensure that supplier partnerships are effectively integrated and meeting performance expectations.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 4 years of experience in vendor management; or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) skills.
  • Detailed oriented and highly organized, with ability to multi-task and work independently with limited guidance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Preferred experience in strategic sourcing, procurement and/or material management at a major airline.
  • Preferred experience in category management including developing category strategies to present to executive stakeholders.

Salary Range

$88,350 --$145,800 / year

Pay Details

Geo 1 (Honolulu): $88,350 - $132,550

 

Geo 2 (Seattle): $97,200 - $145,800

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
