Role Summary

This role oversees the execution of daily operation of Pilot Schedulers at Alaska Airlines to ensure compliance in Federal Aviation Association (FAA), collective bargaining agreement (CBA), company policy and processes for all pilot assignments and applicable contracts at Alaska Airlines. As a people leader, the Supervisor Pilot Crew Scheduling leads and establishes priorities for the team to schedule and meet performance objectives including safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction.

Key Duties

  • Lead a team of Pilot Crew Schedulers to meet performance objectives (on-time performance, reserve utilization, and premium usage) and establish priorities for the daily operation of the pilot schedulers ensuring compliance with all scheduling functions and regulations.
  • Investigate and report delays, and irregular flight activity; determine solutions for how to avoid such delays in the future.
  • Supervise the execution of adherence to FAR, CBA and company policies for ensuring Pilots are scheduled legally.
  • Develop Crew Schedulers through effective performance management, connecting people to projects, and delivering ongoing feedback focusing on coaching in the following areas: attendance, required training, scheduling compliance, delays, and professionalism.
  • Act as the Pilot Crew Scheduling subject-matter expert within Network Operations Center (NOC) and serves as primary point of contact for Flight Ops leaders, Pilots, the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA), and other NOC employees in regard to contractual interpretation, staffing challenges, and Pilot Crew Scheduling impacts.
  • Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship cross divisionally and with union groups including Airline Pilots Association (ALPA), Clerical Office and Passenger Service Employees (COPS).
  • Initiate Everbridge and Global Notification (Medial alert) follow-up communications to base leadership, divisional leadership, and affected personnel.
  • Oversees functions related to non-schedule related flight operations including but not limited to Charter Flights, Training Flights, Functional Check Flights (FCF), Ferry and Repositioning flights.
  • Provides analysis and recommendations to Pilot Crew Scheduling leadership that are critical to the scheduling operation.
  • Manage Lead Crew Schedulers to ensure compliance with FAR 117 in association with other Network Operations Center (NOC) bridge members and Pilot Crews.
  • Creates an atmosphere of inclusiveness, responsiveness, and recognition for crew schedulers.
    • Represents Alaska Airlines Pilot Crew Scheduling department at various AAG meetings related to crew.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 3 years of experience in aviation, airline crew scheduling.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of experience in lieu of the degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small projects and support larger projects as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new ideas to improve safety, compliance, efficiency, and cost.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and collaboratively develop alternatives for resolution.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to keep track of many moving parts and spot conflicts early.
  • Excellent communication skills (e.g., verbal, written, and listening) and comfortable with public speaking.
  • Strong working knowledge of airline/inflight operations with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of Alaska, outside contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strong organizational skills, confidence in decision-making, conflict management, and resiliency.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a high-pressure environment and be able to handle several projects and tasks simultaneously while delivering results.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings and 8, 10, 12-hour shifts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience in the development of policy and procedures.
  • Experience partnering with Union groups and Union leadership.
  • Knowledge of data analytics, analysis, and reporting.

Salary Range

$69,700 -- $104,500 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
