Role Specific Details

This Buyer II position will support direct procurment. 

Role Summary

The Buyer II is responsible for developing solutions to procurement activities at Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role makes recommendations to improve supplier relations and internal team processes, meet customer requirements and achieve cost effectiveness.

Key Duties

  • Takes initiative to develop solutions to procurement activities.
  • Makes recommendations to improve supplier relations and internal team processes to meet customer requirements and achieve cost effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the timely acquisition of goods and services to satisfy end user requirements.
  • With limited direction from the manager, works independently to manage the day-to-day supplier interactions and transactions.
  • Develops positive, collaborative internal and supplier relationships.
  • Monitors supplier performance and collaborates with strategic sourcing and internal customers to identify opportunities for improvement.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 2 years of procurement experience or related area.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Conducts research and complete financial analyses (e.g., cost/benefit).
  • Ability to develop and manage pricing agreements.
  • Create strong customer and supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated change management, leadership, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication across all levels of the business.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Access.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft and/or TRAX.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPM, PMP, or CPIM).

Salary Range

$64,950 --- $97,450 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
