Role Summary

The Manager, Procurement is responsible for executing on the strategy for procurement and supply management for all spend categories Alaska Air and Horizon Air.  As a people leader, the Manager, Procurement leads and establishes priorities for the team to establish structure, and appropriate policies and procedures, to meet all key internal customer requirements, maintain supplier communications and deliver products in a cost effective manner.

 

Key Duties

  • Implements best-in-class procurement procedures for the organization.
  • Partners with internal customers to understand sourcing requirements, schedules and business needs.
  • Develops and implements inventory plans, where appropriate, to prevent business interruptions or product shortfalls.
  • Develops appropriate metrics and processes to drive improvements, cost reductions, and operational excellence.
  • Implements and maintains a plan to identify objectives, vision, and measures for success with top suppliers.
  • Sources vendors for favorable terms, availability, and costs for materials, equipment and supplies.
  • Manages the returns/receiving processes, where appropriate, to ensure fulfillment of supplier commitments.
  • Cultivates positive and collaborative internal stakeholder/external supplier relationships.
  • Engages in sourcing projects and lean or 5S opportunities.
  • Directs and coordinates the activities of a procurement team. Selects, motivates, evaluates, coaches and develops staff capabilities in best-practice procurement techniques, measurements and processes.

 

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or material control.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • A demonstrated track record of developing strong customer/supplier relationships and high-performing teams.
  • Proficiency in discerning various types of agreements common with Procurement (e.g., NDA’s, Pricing Letters, Stocking Program Letters.), including knowledge of common contractual elements within these agreements.
  • Demonstrated competence in change management techniques and challenging the status quo.
  • Ability to conduct research and complete financial analyses with minimal support.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with reading technical documentation/drawings and using enterprise class ERP systems (i.e., PeopleSoft and/or TRAX).
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.

Salary Range

$113,200 - $169,800 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.

 

Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.
